Coming soon...
A place to talk about everything from your TBR pile to the feminist origins of the romance novel.
This is Shelf Stories, a bookish newsletter with reviews, themed roundups, standalone book or author spotlights, and the occassional literary essay. After years of people sliding into my DMs to ask for book recommendations, I decided to make things official as a reviewer. I’ve been reviewing books both personally and for publication since 2019 and recently decided to try and have even more fun with it. And here we are.
So, what will you read1 here?
Well, a cozy mystery roundup is most likely inevitable.
As is an essay about Mary Shelley, the original mother of science fiction and my kindred spirit.
I’ll include book spotlights when I read something that makes me obsessed… like I did earlier this year with Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters.
And also, probably something about Emily Henry’s and Anne Carson’s work, because even though they’re wildly different from each other, they’re two of my faves.
It’ll be ecclectic and awesome. I promise.
Ready? So glad we’re gonna be friends. If you haven’t already, make sure to subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and website as soon as it kicks off. It’s free!
These are just ideas, you guys! Don’t be mad if I change my mind and write about something like fig trees in literature, idk.
